The Hostage Rescue CQB | Operator 3 Day is an intensive three-day course designed for tactical team operators and advanced law enforcement personnel. Hostage rescue missions are time-sensitive, high-risk, and among the most dynamic environments law enforcement officers may face. This course equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in a hostage rescue environment. Participants will work with officers from various agencies, which is essential for their growth as tacticians and for becoming a value-added member of any tactical team.
Participants will learn to recognize environmental factors that affect tactical decisions and adjust their tactics accordingly as situations change. The training and goals are based on the experiences of elite U.S. Army and Law Enforcement Hostage Rescue and Direct Action Teams. Students will learn advanced tactics used by Tier 1 teams to protect innocent lives during structure searches and clearances, reducing the risks to both the mission and the teams during these complex operations.
This course will be entirely simunition-based, and you will be provided with the UNIT4 training rifle and UNIT9 pistol from Unit Solutions.
Class is limited to 12 students.

PRE-REQUISITES:
- This course is an intermediate to advanced-level tactical course designed for individuals who can move and shoot safely and confidently around other students in a team environment.
- All attendees will complete a shooting and movement assessment at the beginning of Day 1. Failure to complete this assessment safely and confidently will result in removal from the course.
- To register, participants must be either a credentialed law enforcement officer or, with prior approval, select Armed Security Professional.

COURSE OVERVIEW:
This intensive three-day course is designed for tactical team operators and advanced law enforcement personnel. Hostage rescue missions are time-sensitive, high-risk, and among the most dynamic environments that law enforcement officers may encounter. This course equips participants with cutting-edge hostage rescue tactics, techniques, and procedures. Students will collaborate with officers from various agencies and departments, which is crucial for their growth as tacticians and valuable team members.
The program focuses on enhancing students' and teams' ability to make critical decisions under extreme stress, while building confidence in applying appropriate tactics. Students will be pushed to perform at their peak and develop the confidence and clarity necessary to handle dynamic and challenging threats. They will learn to effectively engage threats while moving at controlled, rapid speeds, aiming for acceptable shot placement at varying distances and target presentations, and adjusting movements and actions for optimal performance.
Participants will learn to identify environmental factors that influence tactical decisions and to adapt their tactics as situations evolve. The training and objectives are based on the experiences of elite U.S. Army and law enforcement hostage rescue and direct action teams. Students will master advanced tactics used by Tier 1 teams for structure search and clearance, reducing risks during complex lethal force encounters. The training includes detailed instruction, demonstrations, realistic force-on-force scenarios, and immediate feedback to improve operational skills. By the end of the course, students and teams will possess enhanced purpose, clarity, confidence, and the tools necessary to complete their missions successfully.
COURSE SCHEDULE:
Day 1: Individual Skills & CQB Team Clearance Basics
Shooting & Moving Evaluations: Static shooting, surgical shot placement, Shooting & Moving in a CQB (Close Quarters Battle) environment, Threshold Assessment, and Basic Room Clearance techniques for 2-4 person teams (Corner and Center-Fed strategies). Sectors & Priorities of Work.
Day 2: Hostage Rescue CQB Mindset
Advanced team tactics and planning for structure movement, including Single Team Structure Movement (Free-Flow/Follow-On Rooms) and Corridor Movement (Hallway 90/T/4-Way). Team Structure Takedown: Learn Single and Multi-Team hostage rescue movement and takedowns (Free-Flow/Single/Multi Breach).
Day 3: Tactical Planning & Execution
Planning Considerations: Discuss hostage rescue CQB planning, relevant verbiage, and small unit tactics in both rural and urban settings. This will include an initial scenario briefing and planning exercise, Force on Paper Target. Decision Making: Participants will execute custom-built, Force-on-Force scenarios designed to test critical decision-making skills, de-confliction with responders, and solo or team lethal intervention strategies. AAR & Wrap-up: Comprehensive After-Action Reviews (AARs) will be conducted for all scenarios, along with individual feedback from instructors for each student.
COURSE LOGISTICS:
This course will be entirely simunition-based, and you will be provided with the UNIT4 training rifle and UNIT9 pistol from Unit Solutions.
We will provide the Unit Solutions training ammunition for this course.
You will be provided with Eye Protection with Clear & Tinted Z87+ Lenses (If you have prescription glasses, they MUST have wraparound protection)
Blu Bearing will provide lunch daily for this course

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
- Pistol Belt
- Dominant side, active retention, hip-mounted or belt-mounted holster
- Rifle Magazine Pouch(es) on Pistol Belt (capable of carrying at least one extra rifle magazine)
- Weapon-mounted Pistol Light
- Body Armor
- Helmet
- Electronic Hearing Protection (Over the Ear or In the Ear)
- Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning
- Clothing suitable for training in any weather; pants must have belt loops.
